SUMMER DRESSING TIPS FOR FEMALES

Summer dressing requires a little more thought as all of a sudden we have so much more flesh on display

What Females should wear in summer parties / wedding

Semiformal Wear for Females

  • Semiformal wear gives women more freedom in their clothing options. A semiformal affair does not require gowns or elaborate outfits.
Semiformal wear differs throughout the day and the seasons. For example, a female guest may wear a pastel-colored dress for a day wedding. For a nighttime reception, a woman may opt to wear darker colors and heavier makeup.
Although women may wear dress pants to a semiformal setting, it may be uncomfortable to wear tailored slacks for a summer wedding. Generally, women should wear knee- or calf-length dresses, skirts or skirt suits. Younger women may wear outfits with slightly shorter hemlines. However, avoid wearing skirts or dresses with hemlines ending more than a couple of inches above the knee.
As a general rule of etiquette, a woman's outfit must not upstage the bride. She should stick to more conservative styles and muted colors. Avoid wearing white clothing to any wedding or reception

Wear for Women in summer

  •  Wear a skin tone bra with white T-shirts. It's a common misconception to think that a white T-shirt should be worn with a white bra. Not so. It's much better to wear a nude bra, such as those by Gossard Glossies and Chantelle (available from Figleaves.com) particularly when you have a tan, to make your bra appear invisible. Look out for padded cups - a key feature of the indispensable T-shirt bra - to avoid embarrassing nipple silhouettes and a smooth cup will prevent lacy outlines.
  •  Wear invisible underwear with a flimsy dress. VPL is rife during the summer as skirts and trousers get shorter and tighter. If you plan to wear a summery dress you have two underwear options: a G-string will ensure you remain VPL free but choose a size bigger for a comfortable fit. If this feels too revealing, try shorts-style briefs or those with a tummy-control panel, to hold you in in all the right places and give your dress a smooth silhouette.
  •  Wear fitted T-shirts. Summer is a time for more body conscious dressing so ditch those unflattering baggy T-shirts and instead opt for a more fitted look. Agnes b, Gap and Marks & Spencer are excellent sources for cotton/Lycra-mix fitted T-shirts - stick to white and black for a classic look worn with suits and jeans, and mix in neutrals such as khaki and stone for

What to Avoid

  • Avoid wearing heavy fabrics, such as velvet or silk. Many summer weddings take place outdoors, and excessive sweat will cause personal discomfort and stain the fabric.
Regardless of the type of wedding or reception, avoid wearing running shoes or casual sandals.
Although the setting may be casual, avoid wearing blue jeans. If men wish to wear casual pants, they should choose khaki or linen pants.
